Applying for a community radio licence?

ATTENTION SCOTLAND!

As you know, you have until 14th February to get your application in to Ofcom, but did you know that we can help?

The obvious, and free bit is the Toolkit here – www.communityradiotoolkit.com – not just the text of the book but also all the advice in the various ‘Features’ about running your station.   If that isn’t enough we also offer a consultancy service at discounted rates for non profit organisations.

Earlier in the year we worked with the applicant group for Anglesey – MonFM and they said this about the experience;

“Radio Regen’s advice and support with the completion of MonFM’s application not only helped the application but turned out to be an essential part of the process”

If you would like to talk to me about your application I’m happy to spend a bit of time on the phone by way of introduction (i.e. without charge).  Just use the contact  form and we can arrange a time to talk

More information

Radio Regen has set up and run more community radio stations than any other community group in the UK.   Because of this, we are very experienced funding bid writers and service developers, as well as probably being the most successful applicant to the Community Radio Fund. We are now launching a consultation service to support new stations in their early stages and help with the filling out of licence application forms.

There’s not a lot we haven’t done since we started our first full time stations in 2002 so we can help strengthen your team and your bid in many ways.  We can help you with the bid or your could retain our services to strengthen the expertise in your team and thus increase the chances of success for your bid.

Our services:

  • licence bid writing
  • supporting your team in writing the bid
  • training your team and Board
  • advice on compliance – Ofcom and other
  • creation of business development strategies
  • creation of new services or improving existing services for your station to offer
  • employment law
  • build appropriate governance and management structures
  • write/edit funding bids
  • build financial reporting systems for your team
  • create monitoring systems
  • advocate with key local funders – including making presentations locally
  • expert mentoring for your staff and Board

We are not particularly expert in technical matters or commercial sales but we know some good people who are and will happily put you in touch.

As a key player in the community radio sector we want to see new stations succeed and will tailor any support package to your needs.  We also believe in making any solutions we offer appropriate to where you are and will always build our responses around your context – we do not believe that one size fits all.  As with all community media we want to ensure that the need for our help is minimised and that building your organisation’s capacity to deliver is the first priority.

The Radio Regen consultancy service will be delivered by Radio Regen Director Phil Korbel and Deputy Director Cathy Brooks.  Where appropriate we may also sub contract highly experienced station managers from across the country to work with your group.

Please use the consultancy contact form to see how we can help.  However, it is strongly advised that you read the Community Radio Toolkit before approaching Radio Regen – as it’s there for free on www.communityradiotoolkit.net
