Short Course In Radio Production Skills
What’s the course about?
The course is designed to provide a wide variety of radio skills, including how to put together a report, plan a show, and interview guests; teaching the key aspects of the development of radio skills .
Through the course you will:
- Learn how to produce broadcast material for community radio stations
( ALL FM 96.9 & Wythenshawe FM 97.2)
- Unlock new skills – that you can use in a variety of environments
- Produce finished audio material that can be used as a showreel
- Meet new, exciting & creative people
The course includes:
Interview skills
Digital sound editing
Vox popping skills
Putting a show together
Technical skills
Operating a radio studio
Research for radio Scriptwriting
Portable recording skills
Small feature making
Each element is delivered via practical workshops, group work and informal lectures.
Students are assessed on a portfolio of evidential work, coursework and audio files
Who is the course for?
The course is suitable for those new to radio, those wishing to brush up on existing skills, and graduates wanting to gain hands-on training with experienced industry level trainers.
How often does the course run?
The next course is due to start in October 2007, followed by a new intake in January 2008.
How long is the course and when will it be taught?
It is 15 hours a week for 10 weeks, running Mondays to Wednesdays, 10am till 4.00pm.
Where is the course held?
Radio Regen is based at 12 Hilton Street, Manchester, and is situated in the Northern Quarter between Oldham St and Stevenson Square.
How much does the course cost ?
Financial assistance may be availableif you meet the right criteria, for example, receiving income support, JSA or if you have a low income. Please ring MANCAT Guidance 0161 953 5995 for information on fee remission. The fee for employed persons is set by MANCAT and is £440 + examination fees.
Do I need any qualifications to do this course?
There are no formal entry requirements but students must have an interest in radio and be motivated to learn and study.
Which qualification will I be awarded?
On successful completion of the course, students will be awarded a NCFE L2 Certificate in Radio Production
