Foundation Degree Radio Production

Course structure

You study six modules at each of the two levels. Most modules are centered mainly at MANCAT-RADIO REGEN, but at Level 2 you will study Manchester College ONE CENTRAL PARK campus.

Level 1

Prepares you for higher education-level study, introducing you to key topics and helping you to gain an overview of your subject.

  • Personal Development and Planning
  • RadioLegal and Ethical Affairs

Level 2

You will increasingly address issues that are related to employability or professional practice.

  • Commercial Radio
  • Documentary making
  • News and Current Affairs
  • Self Directed Project
  • Professional Practise/Work Experience

Optional modules include

Radio Drama or Documentary 2 or Community Radio

Work experience

Significant work-based learning is an integral part of the course work. Our links with a range of companies working in the area will allow you to gain valuable work experience.

Teaching, learning and assessment

Assessment on all courses is by a mixture of coursework, examination and project work. The precise mix is dependent on what modules you choose.

Career opportunities

The opportunities for graduates are extremely varied and include radio, journalism, podcasting, audio production and multimedia sectors. Some graduates who complete the third year top-up will go on to study for postgraduate diplomas or degrees.
